About Andrea Nelsen
Dr. Nelsen is an FAA HIMS certified psychiatrist who provides evaluations for pilots and air traffic controllers who require mental health or substance related evaluations for the FAA. She also works with aviators certified by foreign agencies, such as the GCAA in the United Arab Emirates. She speaks several foreign languages and understands aviation requirements in the US and abroad. She has several years experience helping pilots and other professionals address their mental health concerns in a compassionate and confidential manner. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She completed her medical education at Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University in New York City, followed by internship and residency at the Menninger Department of Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. At Menninger she served as Clinical Site Chief Resident at the Professionals in Crisis program. 

Dr. Nelsen is also a pilot in training herself. She has flown in a Cessna 172 and her favorite aspect of aviation is aerobatics.
